The coveted award was presented to the Winder Power team as part of the official ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel last night, July 15, 2015, for their exemplary health and safety standards and commitment to work place safety. Winder Power had to meet a rigorous judging criteria by providing evidence of their approach to health and safety management and a commitment to continuous improvement, while also demonstrating how it has created an environment that enhances the well-being of its employees. Constantly striving to provide the safest working environment for staff, and with a commitment to continuously improve safety, this award demonstrates Winder Power’s commitment towards providing safe services and facilities for all their employees.

Speaking about the award, Laurence MacKenzie, Group Managing Director of Winder Power Ltd, said; “Winder Power is committed to developing and maintaining systems to protect employees, visitors and members of the public and advocating the principles of sensible health and safety. We have always put workplace health and safety at the forefront of our priorities, and have a long standing and comprehensive health and safety policy in place. Receiving this award is of great significance to us. We make a massive effort to put safety at the top of our agenda. My board leads this and is passionate about it. I pay immense tribute to our fantastic staff, without their complete engagement we would never have achieved this award.”

As the UK’s family safety charity, RoSPA’s mission to save lives and reduce injuries covers all ages and stages of life. In support of this mission, the RoSPA Awards, which dates back 59 years, recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work. Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “The RoSPA Awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Winder Power Ltd, contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.”
