Winder Power, was presented with a Gold Award in the prestigious annual Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2016, hosted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). Winder Power has achieved the Gold award in recognition of their overall health and safety performance, building on the Silver award received last year, reflecting the company’s steadfast effort on improving their health and safety performance.

Placing health and safety as the vanguard of their priorities, Winder Power have a long standing and comprehensive health and safety policy in place, striving to provide the safest working environment for staff.  With a commitment to continuously improve safety, this award is even more impressive when you consider the highly technical and challenging environment that Winder Power operate in.

As the UK’s family safety charity, RoSPA’s mission to save lives has seen them recognise and celebrate excellence in safety performance by organisations in every sector. Now in their 60th year, the internationally recognised awards are coveted by organisations from across the UK and overseas as the sought after standard for health and safety excellence.  Judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including leadership and workforce involvement.

Winder Power’s record of consecutive days without a reportable accident resulting in lost work time for any of the technicians, engineers or other personnel today passed 1,336 days and is still climbing today.  This record extends back to 2012 and encompasses all of Winder Power’s projects across the UK and worldwide, as well as within their own state-of-the-art factory in Leeds.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “To win an award at such a highly-regarded event as the RoSPA Awards is a great achievement for our winners. It recognises their commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to. We offer them our heartfelt congratulations.”

Speaking about the award, Paul Matthews, General Manager of Winder Power Ltd, said; “We at Winder Power are proud to have been selected for the prestigious Gold Award, in recognition of our commitment to continuous improvement in health and safety management across the business.”
