Our executive board comprises industry specialists with a wealth of experience in the electricity generation and power sector. They are responsible for the day to day running of the company, along with working in partnership with the non-executives to define future strategy. Their aim is to develop the business with a focus on safety, people and the highest quality standards.
Paul graduated from Nottingham University in 1992 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He joined Winder Electrical that summer as a Transformer Design Engineer and within five years he had been promoted to Design Manager overseeing all aspects of the Company’s design and drawing requirements. In 2001 Paul became Sales and Technical Director, combining both skills to secure the company’s first ever term contract. In 2004, Paul was promoted to General Manager and in 2019 became Managing Director. Paul has used his 25 years’ experience in the industry to oversee the growth of the transformer business within the DNO sector.
Andy joined the company in 1986 from school. In 1994 Andy was promoted to a management role and gained a broad knowledge of the business by working in all areas including engineering, sales, purchasing and the site services division. In 2003 Andy was promoted to Operations Manager and subsequently Operations Director in 2005. In 2008 Andy was instrumental in managing the business moving into new premises. Andy has played a key part in the significant growth in the business over the years.
Andy is a Chartered Accountant and joined Winder Power in June 2016. He previously held Group Finance Director roles at Lexia Solutions Group and Earthmill Limited, where he gained experience working with Private Equity funders. Andy graduated with a degree in Microbiology from the University of Aberdeen before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Moore Stephens in Belfast and London. He also worked as an auditor for PwC in Leeds prior to his move into industry.
Our non-executive directors are responsible for bringing their independent judgement to bear on issues of strategy, performance and resources including key appointments and standards of conduct. We believe that their depth and breadth of experience allows them to provide the highest quality support levels to our executive board.
Harry McCracken has over 40 years’ experience in the power industry and is the former group managing director of Viridian Power & Energy and Northern Ireland Electricity. Harry is also Chairman of Simple Power, a Northern Ireland based wind power generation business. Joining NIE as an engineer, he worked his way up into a senior management role in Corporate Planning and joined the NIE Board in 1992 as Operations Director. He became Managing Director in 1998, responsible for everything from NIE’s retail operations to Powerteam, the newly developed engineering side of the Viridian-owned business. In 2002, he was appointed Group MD of Viridian Power & Energy. A power industry heavyweight, he has both the vision and experience to ensure Winder Power is well positioned for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Wayne is Fund Principal at Mercia Fund Managers, who recently acquired Enterprise Ventures (EV). Wayne joined EV in 2006 and was a member of the EV Growth team. Previously, he was an Investment Director with Aberdeen Asset Managers Private Equity, investing in a broad range of sectors across the North of England. Prior to that, he was in the corporate finance team at Ernst & Young where he advised companies, management teams and investors on a wide range of mid-market transactions. Wayne led the EV team which backed management in the acquisition of Winder Power and joined the board on completion of that transaction.
